An LED screen is a medium designed for advertising, entirely dedicated to it, and associated with invasive, persuasive calls to action: buy, see, call. We are used to advertising, its aggressive presentation, language, and speed of communication. But what if someone used this medium to share pro-social ideas instead?
Exhibition details
- non-commercial animations on LED displays
- 17,000 broadcasts on five displays in Gdańsk
- 170 city bus screens
- ten large-scale building projections
Broadcasts
I spoke with several LED display owners around Gdańsk to showcase non-commercial animated GIFs. The GIFs were broadcast 17,000 times on five different displays. Later, the same animations were shown on 170 screens in city buses.
Screenings
Ten large scale projections in public space, on various types of buildings, including a block of flats, an office building, a supermarket, a church, and a hotel. The biggest screening was eight-floor high.
