Flipdigits Monitor
"Flipdigits Monitor" uses mechanical digit screens to play animations.
Mechanical screens are typically used for informational purposes, such as at airports or train stations. They are known for their low power consumption (energy is only required to change the state of the digits) and excellent visibility in strong light. The characteristic sound comes from the movement of the mechanical parts of the digits. The project involved programming the controller, developing generative animations, and constructing the physical object. This project was done in collaboration with AlfaZeta, the maker of flip-digit displays.
